Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ruiz Edinhio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Mineev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ruiz Edinhio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir Mineev!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mineev throws a hook to the side of Edinhio's head but Edinhio sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Edinhio takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

and Mineev counters with a left hand that sends Edinhio to the canvas!


Edinhio is rocked!


It looks like Ruiz Edinhio has been cut.
Mineev wanted to stand there but Edinhio had control of the position.
Oh Edinhio is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mineev trying to control the position from guard on top but Edinhio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Edinhio seems to have got his legs back now.

Edinhio working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mineev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mineev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mineev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Edinhio seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Edinhio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mineev defends well.

Mineev is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Mineev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Edinhio swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mineev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edinhio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Edinhio is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Edinhio passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Edinhio tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mineev can't do much from the bottom here.

Edinhio is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mineev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Edinhio swings around for an armbar but Mineev sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Edinhio's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Edinhio misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mineev looks to land a right hand but Edinhio moved out of range.
Mineev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Edinhio moves away.
Mineev cracks Edinhio with a good jab.
Mineev wants to land a leg kick but Edinhio is out of range.
Edinhio will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mineev catches Edinhio with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Mineev drops Edinhio with a left and a right! Oh, Edinhio is hurt - Mineev dives into side control looking to finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mineev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Edinhio keeps working.
Ruiz Edinhio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Edinhio can't do much from the bottom here.
Edinhio is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Mineev stands up and beckons Edinhio to his feet.
Mineev fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mineev throws a right hand that Edinhio ducks under and follows up with a left that Edinhio also avoids with ease.
Vladimir Mineev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mineev throws a series of punches but Edinhio avoids them all with ease.
Edinhio gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Edinhio shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mineev as he jumps to the side.

Mineev waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Edinhio. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Edinhio to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mineev is fighting to break Edinhio's control of his arms but Edinhio is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mineev is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mineev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Edinhio is controlling Mineev's posture.

Edinhio has his foot on Mineev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mineev works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mineev wants to control from the top but Edinhio keeps moving.

Edinhio is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mineev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Edinhio circles away quickly and effectively.

Mineev has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Edinhio is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Vladimir Mineev is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mineev connects with a good right hand that stumbles Edinhio. Edinhio circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Edinhio takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Vladimir Mineev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mineev rushes Edinhio with punches - Edinhio moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Edinhio goes down! Mineev follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
