PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Taybor Trulli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Rizzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Rizzo's choice of entrance music: Fury of Five - Come and Get It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizzo misses the shot to the body.
Trulli tries to counter by clinching up but Rizzo breaks away and moves out of range.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rizzo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Trulli shoots in looking for a takedown. Rizzo tries to sprawl out of it but Trulli keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rizzo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rizzo is trying to trip Trulli. He has hold of a leg but Trulli is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rizzo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trulli drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rizzo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trulli has Rizzo in his guard.

Rizzo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Rizzo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rizzo lands a nice short elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
