Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shamil Abdurahimov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Curran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abdurahimov comes to the cage accompanied by Michael Jackson - Thriller. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shamil Abdurahimov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Curran!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curran stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Abdurahimov.
Abdurahimov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Curran is looking to land body kicks.
Abdurahimov tests Curran's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Abdurahimov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Curran swings widly with a right hand
and Abdurahimov counters with a nice uppercut.

Abdurahimov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Curran explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Shamil Abdurahimov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Abdurahimov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Curran tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Abdurahimov was well out of range. Poor timing from Curran.

No joy there for Abdurahimov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It looks like Shamil Abdurahimov has been cut.
Abdurahimov is looking to chop away at Curran's legs.

We've been hearing reports that Abdurahimov has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Curran can't find room to land a body shot as Abdurahimov controls the action.
Curran misses with a short punch on the inside.
Curran tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Curran works on Abdurahimov's body with a couple of short punches.

Abdurahimov is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Curran can't fight it off and eventually Abdurahimov manages to take the fight to the floor. Curran looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Abdurahimov gets to his feet - Curran follows without any prompting.

Curran lands an uppercut.
Curran is leaning against Abdurahimov and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Curran tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Curran pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Abdurahimov misses with a few strikes there.
Curran steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Abdurahimov.
Curran swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Curran lands an overhand right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Abdurahimov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Abdurahimov showed some decent athleticism there.
Curran wants to improve his position but Abdurahimov is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abdurahimov seems to be looking for submissions.
Curran told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Curran is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Curran throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Curran takes a shot to the head.
Curran scores with a shot to the side of Abdurahimov's head.

Abdurahimov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Abdurahimov is breathing heavily.
Curran throws a hook to the side of Abdurahimov's head but Abdurahimov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Abdurahimov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Curran.
Abdurahimov went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Randy Curran is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Curran throws a body kick that misses.
Abdurahimov throws a quick counter kick to the body but Curran avoids it.
Abdurahimov misses with a hook
and Curran counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Shamil Abdurahimov's cut is getting worse.
Abdurahimov moves out of range of the body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Curran dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shamil Abdurahimov's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Abdurahimov pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Abdurahimov shoots in looking for a takedown but Curran manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Abdurahimov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Curran has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Abdurahimov throws a sloppy head kick
and Curran cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Abdurahimov feints and as Curran raises his hands in defense, Abdurahimov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Curran is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Abdurahimov presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Curran throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Abdurahimovs head.
Abdurahimov is trying to drag Curran to the mat but Curran just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Curran is leaning against Abdurahimov and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Curran goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Abdurahimov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Abdurahimov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice body kick there by Abdurahimov.

Jab, jab by Abdurahimov - just one landing.
Curran connects with a nice looking jab.


Shamil Abdurahimov's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Curran, right into the meat.
Abdurahimov moves away from the strike by Curran.

and Curran counters with a crisp right hand that drops Abdurahimov! Curran lets Abdurahimov back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Abdurahimov is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Curran cracks Abdurahimov with a hook to the temple - Abdurahimov is on wobbly legs here! Curran swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Abdurahimov falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Curran wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Randy Curran!
An out of breath Randy Curran thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Shamil Abdurahimov had this to say: 'I was robbed'.
