PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Methyrr Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Vatanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dall's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Outlaws. The crowd seem to be enjoying Vatanen's choice of entrance music: Kalmah - Heros to Us. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dall blocks a jab.
Dall tries to move into range but Vatanen moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Dall misses with a low kick.
Vatanen has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dall is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Vatanen throws a jab when Dall was well out of range.
Vatanen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dall.
Dall moves out of range of the strikes.
Dall slips a jab from Vatanen.
Vatanen throws a nice looking combination but Dall bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dall throwing a counter right hand but Vatanen manages to avoid it.

and Dall makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Dall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dall catches Vatanen with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

It looks like Sami Vatanen has been cut.
Vatanen throws a right and a left that Dall avoids nicely.
The crowd cheers as Dall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vatanen doesn't seem phased though.
Vatanen loads up on a big right hand but Dall slips the punch.
A little feinted left hand from Dall on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dall takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dall throws a right and a left that Vatanen avoids nicely.
Dall avoids the body shot from Vatanen.
Dall lunges at Vatanen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Vatanen's hand.
Sami Vatanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dall slips under a jab from Vatanen.
Vatanen misses with a lunging right hand
and Dall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dall scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Vatanen throws a body shot but no joy.
Vatanen throws a lazy uppercut
and Dall counters with a body kick that stops Vatanen in his tracks momentarily.
Dall looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Vatanen swings widly with a right hand
letting Dall counter with a right hand.
Vatanen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Dall connects with a jab.
A punch lands to the side of Vatanen 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That has opened up Sami Vatanen's cut even more.
Vatanen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dall fires out a quick counter leg kick but Vatanen just manages to avoid it.
Vatanen misses the jab.
Dall swings for the body but Vatanen moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vatanen connects with a single shot there.
Dall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dall throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Vatanen looks winded!
Dall will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Dall throws a body punch but Vatanen moves out of range.
Dall throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Vatanen gets caught napping as Dall dives in and scores a takedown. Vatanen manages to retain guard.

Dall drops back looking for a leg! Vatanen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vatanen manages to kick Dall off! Dall jumps back into Vatanen's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dall postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Dall is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dall passes Vatanen's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Dall is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vatanen sees it coming and defends easily.
Vatanen looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dall takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dall is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Vatanen!
Vatanen tries to buck Dall off but Dall takes his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vatanen trying to get back to his feet but Dall is in full control for now.

Dall is working for a rear naked choke. Vatanen is not defending it well and Dall has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Vatanen refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Vatanen's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
