Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lion comes to the cage accompanied by My Darkest Hour by Scary Kids Scaring Kids. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stanley Lion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Penn!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lion ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Penn looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Lion closes the distance and pushes Penn back into the cage.
Lion lands an elbow that stopped Penn in his tracks for a moment.

Lion escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lion feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Penn's calf.

Lion has closed the distance and engaged Penn in a clinch.

Lion works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Lion controls from within his opponent's guard.
Penn keeping moving, preventing Lion from controlling successfully.
Lion wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lion throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lion trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lion wanted to stand there but Penn had control of the position.
Lion is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lion stuffs the takedown attempt from Penn. Penn gets slowly back to his feet.

Lion gets a clinch.
Penn tries to pull guard but Lion holds him up against the cage and eventually Penn drops back down to his feet.
Penn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lion fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Stanley Lion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Penn.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Penn gets tackled into the cage by Lion. Lion maintains the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Lion.

Lion breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lion has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lion holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Penn looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Penn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Penn misses with a takedown
and Lion counters with a two punch combo.
Lion pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Penn lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn avoids the head kick by Lion.
And Penn tries to counter it with a takedown but Lion pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Lion gets the takedown into side control.
Lion in side control lands a decent elbow.
Penn tries to improve position but can't.
Lion lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Penn down.
Penn on the wrong end of some ground and pound.


Penn is rocked!
Lion controlling the position from side mount.
Penn is still in real trouble! Can Lion finish him?
Penn is trying to improve his position.
Penn seems to have recovered his senses.
Lion is chipping away with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Penn takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lion cracks Penn with a big right hand but Penn just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Lion is working Penn over with some ground and pound from side control.
Penn is trying to get back to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn keeps trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on Penn's face as Lion controls the position.
Lion landing a few strikes.

Lion stands up.
Lion connects with a right that clearly hurt Penn. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Lion proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Penn collapses and taps out under the pressure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stanley Lion!
Stanley Lion decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
