PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Wallhead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veli Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Veli Schwarzeneg was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Wallhead!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Veli Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Wallhead as Schwarzeneg shoots in.

Schwarzeneg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wallhead knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schwarzeneg on the ground.
Schwarzeneg slips a nice elbow through Wallhead's hands, connecting with Wallhead's forehead.

Schwarzeneg lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Schwarzeneg wants to stand but Wallhead has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Schwarzeneg wants to control the pace but Wallhead is squirming around nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Schwarzeneg is going olschool here, as he tries to force Wallhead to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Wallhead shrugs it off.
Schwarzeneg has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Schwarzeneg has control of Wallhead's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Wallhead regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Wallhead is desperately trying to improve his position but Schwarzeneg has a good base and remains in mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wallhead tries to reverse the position but Schwarzeneg maintains control.

BOOM! Schwarzeneg connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schwarzeneg sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Wallhead keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Wallhead's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Wallhead drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wallhead jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wallhead drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schwarzeneg looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schwarzeneg looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schwarzeneg!

Wallhead tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Schwarzeneg presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Wallhead is looking to improve his position but Schwarzeneg isn't that keen on the idea.
BOOM! Schwarzeneg connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Wallhead is bucking up trying to escape but Schwarzeneg cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Schwarzeneg looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wallhead tries to reverse the position but Schwarzeneg maintains control.
Schwarzeneg can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wallhead is looking to escape.
Wallhead is trying desperately to improve position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Wallhead postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Schwarzeneg is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wallhead, into his guard.
