Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rhys Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Leon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergio Leon is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rhys Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sergio Leon!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Edwards manages to avoid it.

Edwards gets tackled into the cage by Leon. Leon maintains the clinch.
Leon swings wildly with an uppercut but Edwards uses good head movement to avoid it.

Leon jumps guard.
Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Leon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Leon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Edwards wants to pass the guard but Leon is keeping the position.
Leon is trying to control the position but Edwards postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edwards drops back, looking for a kneebar! Leon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Leon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Leon!

Edwards has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leon is working away from the top position though.

Leon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Edwards haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Edwards defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Edwards won't allow Leon to sweep him here.

Leon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Edwards is one step ahead there.

Edwards is really struggling to control Leon but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Leon has taken the fight to the clinch.

Edwards has clasped his hands together around Leon's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Edwards is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Leon has escaped the position, nice work there.
Leon is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Leon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rhys Edwards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Edwards is looking to take a break and control but Leon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Edwards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Edwards.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edwards in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leon gets full guard.
Leon wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Leon throws the left hand but Edwards avoids the punch easily.
Leon throws a hook to the side of Edwards's head but Edwards sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Edwards drops down looking for a counter takedown but Leon sprawls and moves away.

Edwards shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Leon's guard.
Edwards sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Leon's guard.

Leon is trying is best to control the position here.

Leon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Edwards pulls his head out easily.
Edwards is trying to control. Leon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Leon moves into full guard.

Edwards got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Edwards has managed to get both his arms back between Leon's legs - danger averted.
Leon is trying to keep Edwards in close.

Edwards is pushing down on Leon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Leon is fighting to maintain full guard but Edwards has managed to sneak the leg through.

Edwards is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Edwards tries to pass the half guard into mount. Leon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leon wants to sweep but no luck.
Leon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Edwards manages to get himself to full guard.

Leon throws a big elbow that misses.
Leon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Leon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Edwards's head.

Leon throws a sloppy strike and Edwards has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Leon is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Edwards!
