Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reino Kovis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erwin Rommel!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovis misses with a looping right.
Rommel keeps the fight on the outside.
Kovis tries to clinch up but Rommel circles away and keeps his distance.
Rommel shoots for a double leg takedown but Kovis sprawls well. He's pushed Rommel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rommel defending well as Kovis loads up on a big left hand.

Rommel closes the distance and clinches.
Rommel drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kovis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kovis misses with a knee strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kovis is pressed up against the cage. Rommel has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kovis down to the mat. Kovis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Reino Kovis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erwin Rommel.
Rommel slips a jab and a cross from Kovis.
Rommel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kovis pinned against the cage. Kovis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kovis tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rommel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rommel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kovis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kovis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rommel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rommel throwing strikes but missing.

Kovis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rommel.
Rommel working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kovis's head.
Rommel with a flurry of punches that miss.

Kovis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rommel wants to pass the guard but Kovis is keeping the position.
Rommel chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kovis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kovis is breathing heavily.
Rommel passes Kovis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rommel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Rommel winds up and cracks Kovis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kovis is defending against the submission attempts here by Rommel.

Rommel is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kovis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rommel.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rommel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kovis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rommel!

Kovis has control of Rommel's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rommel regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rommel is trying desperately to improve position.
Kovis avoids the attempt from Rommel to control.

Kovis working for a submission but Rommel is keeping him at bay.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erwin Rommel dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kovis tries to keep at a distance but Rommel has taken the fight into the clinch.
The referee calls for Kovis to work.
Kovis misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rommel.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kovis is pushing Rommel up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Kovis gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Rommel wants a takedown but no success here.
Rommel is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kovis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rommel has clasped his hands together around Kovis's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Kovis is looking for a sweep.
Kovis is working hard here to advance position.
Kovis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rommel's best efforts.

Rommel looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rommel lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rommel is nestled in close to Kovis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rommel looks to land a strike but Kovis avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Kovis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rommel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rommel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rommel is posturing up here but Kovis has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rommel tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rommel has to tap! Slick submission there by Kovis!
