Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyron Woodley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noam Chomsky!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chomsky circles away from the clinch attempt.
Woodley swinging wildly here.
Chomsky throws a front kick aimed at Woodley's knee but Woodley avoids it well.
Chomsky misses with a leg kick.
Chomsky jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Woodley misses with a takedown attempt

and Chomsky counters by clinching up.
Woodley wants to take the fight to the mat but Chomsky manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Woodley is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyron Woodley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Woodley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tyron Woodley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woodley swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Chomsky counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chomsky fails with the takedown.

Woodley drives through with a takedown into guard.

Woodley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chomsky works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Woodley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Woodley passes Chomsky's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Chomsky is pressing down on Woodley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Chomsky is trying to keep Woodley in close.
Woodley is looking to stand up but Chomsky won't let him.

Woodley fails with a takedown attempt.

Woodley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chomsky was covering up waiting for the punch and Woodley finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Woodley cracks Chomsky with a solid left hand.
Woodley pushes down on Chomsky's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Woodley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Woodley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chomsky defends it well.
Chomsky regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Woodley.

Woodley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Woodley drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chomsky looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chomsky looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chomsky!

Woodley gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Still in half guard, Chomsky seems content to control.

Woodley looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Woodley misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Woodley is looking for a sweep. Chomsky is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Woodley flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Woodley is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chomsky pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chomsky wants to control but Woodley is keeping him busy.
Still in half guard, Chomsky seems content to control.
Chomsky blocks the strikes from Woodley.
Woodley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Chomsky connects with a couple of short punches.
Woodley throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Woodley tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Woodley throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Woodley has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Chomsky has passed into side control.
Woodley tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyron Woodley dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chomsky.

Woodley dives in and scores a takedown into Chomsky's guard.
Chomsky trying to keep a closed guard but Woodley is proving a slippery customer.
Woodley is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Woodley has gone for a leg lock! Chomsky slips out almost immediately though and dives into Woodley's guard.

Woodley is striking from the bottom but Chomsky uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Woodley is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Chomsky scores with a couple of nice shots.

Woodley tries to kick Chomsky off but Chomsky keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Woodley slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Woodley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chomsky doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chomsky manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Woodley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Woodley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Chomsky pulls Woodley in to control the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Woodley's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Woodley postures up.
Woodley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chomsky can do to turn this around?
Tyron Woodley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Woodley throws a strike but Chomsky rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Woodley pushes a forearm under Chomsky's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Chomsky is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
