The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Clowni looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Clowni is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

It looks like Gerrald Clowni has been cut.
Clowni parries the strikes from Jones easily there. Jones is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Clowni to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clowni can do anything to dispel that myth.

Clowni tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Clowni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jones misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Clowni tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

You can see the frustration on Clowni's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
