Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fireaway Flanagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Madrigal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flanagan's entrance music is For Heavy Metal we will die!. A fine choice. Madrigal has chosen Lil Jon-Throw it Up as his entrance music. Julio Madrigal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fireaway Flanagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 21 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Julio Madrigal!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flanagan leaves Madrigal with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Madrigal is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Flanagan.
Flanagan connects with a leg kick. Madrigal looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Madrigal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Flanagan tries to avoid it but Madrigal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Flanagan to the ground. Flanagan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Madrigal has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Madrigal crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Flanagan - the referee stops the clock and Madrigal gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Flanagan. Madrigal manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Flanagan catches Madrigal with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Madrigal looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Flanagan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Flanagan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Madrigal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Flanagan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Madrigal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Madrigal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Flanagan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Flanagan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fireaway Flanagan.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Flanagan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Fireaway Flanagan started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
The defeated Julio Madrigal had this to say: 'Props to him, he beat me fair and square this time. I will go back to the gym and get better, I'm going to win my belt back.'.
