Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Merlin Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Temujin Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan has chosen War as his entrance music. Merlin Mendez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Merlin Mendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Temujin Khan!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Khan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khan somewhat.
Khan shoots and misses
enabling Mendez to counter with a crisp jab.
Mendez forces Khan back against the cage and clinches.
Mendez goes for a takedown attempt but Khan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mendez throws a head kick that misses.
Khan looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Khan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Khan is fighting to break Mendez's control of his arms but Mendez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Khan throws a big elbow that misses.

Mendez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mendez wants to work for an arm triangle but Khan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Khan gets back to full guard.
Khan is pulling down on Mendez's head. It's preventing any offense from Mendez, at least for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Khan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Khan scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mendez taking some punishment here, with Khan in his half guard.
Khan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mendez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mendez is trying to get back to full guard.
Khan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mendez is rocked!
Khan lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Mendez! More strikes land and this one is all over! Khan jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Temujin Khan!
An out of breath Temujin Khan thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
