Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Newton has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Newton!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jordan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Newton wants to get back to full guard.
Jordan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Newton felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Jordan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jordan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Newton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Newton wants to improve his position but Jordan is controlling well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jordan thows a huge punch but Newton dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jordan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jordan's back!

Jordan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Newton is working for a rear naked choke. Jordan is not defending it well and Newton has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Jordan refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Jordan's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
