Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fredric Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Hawes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fredric Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Hawes!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turner did well to prevent Hawes getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawes trying to control from Turner's half guard. Turner has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hawes throws an elbow that misses. Turner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hawes's guard. Nice move by Turner!

Turner tries to stand but Hawes is controlling from the bottom.
Turner lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hawes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Turner defends well.
Turner postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawes pulls Turner in close to his closed guard and prevents Turner from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Turner stands up over Hawes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hawes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Turner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hawes wants to control but Turner passes easily into half guard.
Hawes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hawes tries to roll over but Turner keeps him under control.
Hawes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Turner lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hawes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Turner is trying to buck Hawes off.
You can see the frustration on Turner's face as Hawes controls the position.

Hawes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Turner has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hawes but great work by Turner.

Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Turner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hawes, who protects the arm well.
Turner lands a decent elbow from side control.
You can see the frustration on Hawes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Turner decides to stand back up. Turner steps back and let's Hawes get back to his feet.
Hawes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hawes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hawes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Turner is trying to defend but Hawes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hawes is breathing heavily.
Turner gets full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hawes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Turner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hawes can do to turn this around?

Hawes looking to sit in guard and control but Turner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Turner stands up over Hawes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Turner is looking to stand up but Hawes won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hawes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Turner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hawes fails in his attempt to clinch.

Turner gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hawes to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hawes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Turner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Turner has escaped and now he's on top!

Turner slips a nice elbow through Hawes's hands, connecting with Hawes's forehead.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Turner lands a nice short elbow.
Turner tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hawes.

Hawes is looking for a sweep. Turner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hawes has a hand on Turner's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Turner takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Hawes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Turner lands a heavy elbow.
Turner with shots to the head and body - Hawes looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Turner cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Hawes in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Phil Hawes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Turner lands a big shot there that rocks Hawes but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Turner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hawes's face.
Hawes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Turner lands a heavy elbow.
Hawes is in all sorts of trouble here.

Turner cracks Hawes with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hawes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
