Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bud Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlton Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dodson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smith tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dodson is in Smith's guard.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dodson's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dodson wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Smith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Dodson stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Smith throws up his legs and catches Dodson in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Dodson tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Smith! That came out of nowhere!
