Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marty Meierotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Terry Gonon!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meierotto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Meierotto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Meierotto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meierotto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Meierotto tries for a kimura but Gonon is defending well.
Gonon wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonon throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Gonon is looking to regain half guard here but Meierotto keeps moving and retains side control.
Meierotto stands up.
Terry Gonon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meierotto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Meierotto is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gonon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Meierotto decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gonon shoots in and bounces Meierotto off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Meierotto is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Gonon has his hands clasped together but Meierotto extends and breaks Gonon's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Meierotto.
