Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jolly Leg Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Edge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edge is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Edge tenderised Byrd's leg. Byrd is trying to keep his angry face on.
We've been hearing reports that Byrd has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A nice inside leg kick there by Byrd. That's going to slow Edge down.
Edge throws a hook but Byrd blocks it.
Edge uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Byrd.

Byrd shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Edge is trying to defend but Byrd finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Byrd is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Edge is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Byrd takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Edge is squirming around, avoiding Byrd's attempts to control the action.

Byrd fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Edge has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edge fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Byrd looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Byrd.

Edge tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Edge lands a nice short elbow.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Edge working his ground and pound in the gym.

Byrd is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Edge rolls with it to try and escape but Byrd cranks on the arm and Edge is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
