Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Niego Hermano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier misses with a series of wild punches.
Cormier misses the jab.

Cormier shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cormier trying to control but Hermano is working from the bottom.

Hermano working for a triangle but Cormier defends it easily.
Hermano working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cormier.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cormier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Cormier throws an elbow that misses. Hermano uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cormier's guard. Nice move by Hermano!

Cormier is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hermano is aware though and is defending well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cormier can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cormier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hermano can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cormier has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hermano is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cormier.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hermano is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cormier knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hermano is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cormier has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cormier tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hermano presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Cormier tries to hold on but Hermano pushes him away.
Hermano looking to control but Cormier is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hermano will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hermano lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cormier hang on?

Cormier wants to control but Hermano is having none of it.
Cormier holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hermano tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Cormier is in all sorts of trouble here.
Cormier has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Niego Hermano dominated that round.
That's time! Hermano's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cormier throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hermano on the side of the head.
Cormier jabs Hermano right on the nose. Hermano blinks but takes it well.
Cormier leaves Hermano with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Niego Hermano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cormier stuffs the takedown.
Cormier cracks Hermano with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Cormier lands a big uppercut and Hermano crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hermano looks OK. Cormier waves Hermano back to his feet!


Hermano is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hermano walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Cormier swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jon Cormier!
Niego Hermano was interviewed post fight and said 'Gracias,thank you,obrigado!'.
