The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Welsh throws a leg kick
and Penn counters with a low kick, right behind Welsh 's knee.
Penn fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Welsh tries a head kick but it misses.
That kick from Penn tenderised Welsh's leg. Welsh is trying to keep his angry face on.
Penn moves out of range as Welsh throws a body kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Penn checks a leg kick.
Welsh tries a low kick but Penn avoids it.
Penn has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Welsh.
Decent striking displayed by Penn there.
Welsh is looking to clinch but Penn is avoiding it.
Penn throws a big counter combination but Welsh scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Penn throws a body punch but Welsh moves out of range.
Welsh has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Penn thuds a left hand into Welsh's body.
Welsh swings away with a body shot that misses
and Penn counters with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Penn lands with a hook. Welsh tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Welsh is rocked!
Callum Welsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Penn moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Welsh! Penn continues to tee off on Welsh, landing with a left and a right! Penn connects with a right hand that leaves Welsh sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Penn!
