Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cloud Strife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Schmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmo ducks under a wild hook from Strife.
And Schmo tries to counter it with a takedown but Strife pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Schmo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Strife throws out the jab.

A telegraphed right hand from Schmo misses the target.
Strife scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Schmo misses with a takedown attempt
and Strife counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Joe Schmo has been cut.
Schmo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Schmo there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strife misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Schmo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Strife throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Schmo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strife throws an off balance right hand
and Schmo counters with a nice uppercut.
Strife scores with a nice strike.
Schmo throws a good cross that connects.
Strife pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Schmo with a poor takedown
and Strife counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That has opened up Joe Schmo's cut even more.
Strife tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schmo was well out of range. Poor timing from Strife.
And Schmo tries to counter it with a takedown but Strife pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Strife lands with a right hand.
Strife throws a body shot but no joy.
Schmo misses with an uppercut. Strife saw that one coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schmo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Strife definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
No joy there for Strife, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Strife cracks Schmo with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Schmo tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Strife pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Schmo is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cloud Strife!
Cloud Strife retains his heavyweight title!
