PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirby Robbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Frye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Frye told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robbins has Frye up against the cage in a clinch.

Robbins pulls guard effortlessly.
Frye wants to get up but he can't break Robbins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Frye trying to control the position from guard on top but Robbins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Robbins will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like Frye is going to stand back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Robbins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Robbins showed some decent athleticism there.

Robbins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Frye with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Frye is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Robbins jumps guard and drags Frye to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Frye is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Robbins is defending well though. Frye let's go of the attempt for now.

Brandon Frye showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Brandon Frye.
