PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hans Dobbelbock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Carlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlin has chosen Architects of Life as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Dobbelbock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Carlin!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlin gets the takedown into side control.
Dobbelbock is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dobbelbock has one of Carlin's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
You can see the frustration on Dobbelbock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dobbelbock is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Dobbelbock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carlin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dobbelbock with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Carlin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dobbelbock's head.
Dobbelbock trying to hold on to Carlin's head to control him but Carlin postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Dobbelbock manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Dobbelbock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dobbelbock lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Dobbelbock is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Carlin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dobbelbock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dobbelbock trying to control but Carlin is working from the bottom.
Dobbelbock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carlin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dobbelbock is controlling him.
Dobbelbock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carlin is keeping the position for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carlin wants to stand up but Dobbelbock is controlling him.
Dobbelbock throws a big right hand that misses.
Carlin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dobbelbock seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dobbelbock fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dobbelbock sets himself, and Carlin steps forward looking for the clinch! Dobbelbock avoids it this time.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dobbelbock is defended easily by Carlin.

and Carlin counters by clinching up.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hans Dobbelbock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carlin tries for a takedown but Dobbelbock manages to get underhooks.
Carlin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Dobbelbock after a bit of a struggle.

Carlin has hold of one of Dobbelbock's legs. Dobbelbock is fighting the takedown attempt but Carlin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Dobbelbock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carlin's guard.

Dobbelbock is looking to work some ground and pound but Carlin has wrist control.
Dobbelbock passes Carlin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dobbelbock seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Dobbelbock throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Carlin is looking for a sweep. Dobbelbock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dobbelbock is looking for a kimura but Carlin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dobbelbock to get the leverage.
Dobbelbock throwing shots but Carlin is blocking nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carlin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dobbelbock thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carlin's head.
Carlin pushes Dobbelbock off looking to stand but Dobbelbock dives back in and keeps control.
Dobbelbock lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Dobbelbock is looking for a kimura here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dobbelbock connects with a nice short shot to Carlin's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dobbelbock controlling the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Dobbelbock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carlin as he avoids it easily.
Dobbelbock darts in looking for a takedown but Carlin gets double underhooks and turns Dobbelbock into the cage.
Dobbelbock shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carlin pinned against the cage. Carlin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hans Dobbelbock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carlin gets a takedown into half guard.
Carlin winds up and cracks Dobbelbock with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Carlin slips a nice elbow through Dobbelbock's hands, connecting with Dobbelbock's forehead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dobbelbock on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.


Dobbelbock is rocked!
Carlin lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Dobbelbock! More strikes land and this one is all over! Carlin jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

An out of breath George Carlin thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
