PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shin Murakami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Serenade. Shin Murakami will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Murakami!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Murakami!


It looks like Pedro Diaz has been cut.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Diaz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Murakami takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Diaz creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Murakami sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Diaz works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Murakami takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Murakami keeps working.

Diaz manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Murakami keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Diaz for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

We've been told by Diaz's head coaches at Tycoon Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Murakami decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get!

Diaz tries to clinch but Murakami is having none of it.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Murakami sprawls well. Murakami wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.

Shin Murakami comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Murakami has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
