Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yrjo Pieru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirzu Hitoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hitoshi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Boom Boom Satellites - Easy Action. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yrjo Pieru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mirzu Hitoshi!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pieru throws a right and a left that Hitoshi avoids nicely.
Left hook, right uppercut from Pieru.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Pieru lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Pieru misses with a double jab.
Pieru keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Pieru scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hitoshi avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pieru.

Hitoshi is looking for a sweep.

Pieru stands up.

Pieru takes the fight into the clinch.
Pieru tries for a takedown but Hitoshi manages to get underhooks.

Pieru gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Pieru prevents Hitoshi from improving his position.
Pieru tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Hitoshi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hitoshi tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pieru has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Pieru tries to control but Hitoshi wriggling away.

Pieru lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Hitoshi can't escape the position.

Pieru is landing with some decent strikes but Hitoshi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pieru lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Hitoshi is still in real trouble! Can Pieru finish him?
Hitoshi slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like Pieru is going to stand back up.
Hitoshi seems to have recovered his senses.
Hitoshi is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Pieru jumps into side control!

Pieru decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hitoshi to his feet.

Hitoshi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pieru counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Yrjo Pieru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirzu Hitoshi.

Pieru gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hitoshi regains guard.

Pieru stands up from guard. Let's bang!

and Hitoshi counters with a shoot takedown. Pieru fights it but they end up in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yrjo Pieru dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Pieru forces Hitoshi back against the cage and clinches.
Pieru drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hitoshi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pieru.
Hitoshi tries to score a body lock takedown but Pieru shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pieru turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Hitoshi is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hitoshi dodges the ground and pound from Pieru.
Pieru lands a nice forearm strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hitoshi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Pieru is trying to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hitoshi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Hitoshi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pieru is just riding it out for now. Hitoshi eventually gives up the hold.
Pieru makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pieru.

Hitoshi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pieru looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pieru looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pieru!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pieru stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Pieru looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hitoshi!
Hitoshi takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Pieru scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hitoshi?
Hitoshi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hitoshi works his way to full guard. Good work.

Pieru wants to stand but Hitoshi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pieru throwing strikes from guard but Hitoshi blocks nicely.

Hitoshi looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pieru passes into half guard.
Pieru landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Pieru postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hitoshi to stand up.

Hitoshi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pieru is looking to stand up but Hitoshi won't let him.
Pieru lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hitoshi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hitoshi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pieru stacks Hitoshi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pieru!

Pieru has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Pieru looking to land some kicks to the body here.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Pieru throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Pieru is controlling an arm, preventing Hitoshi from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Pieru manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Pieru kicks Hitoshi off and gets back to his feet.
Pieru fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hitoshi.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hitoshi tries to bench press Pieru off him but Pieru keeps the position.

Pieru stands up and beckons Hitoshi to his feet.
Hitoshi dodges the punch combination from Pieru.

Pieru moves into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pieru is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hitoshi can't fight it off and eventually Pieru manages to take the fight to the floor. Hitoshi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pieru decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pieru has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pieru stands up over Hitoshi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hitoshi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Pieru counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hitoshi has a hand on Pieru's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pieru takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Hitoshi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pieru lands a big shot there that rocks Hitoshi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Pieru is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hitoshi can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hitoshi tries to hold on but Pieru pushes him away.

Pieru wants to control the pace but Hitoshi is squirming around nicely.

Yrjo Pieru showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Pieru has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
