PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rickie Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antunes Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Molexado. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Rickie Hammond has been cut.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Hammond throws a quick counter kick to the body but Silva avoids it.
Hammond avoids the head kick by Silva.
Hammond fires out a quick counter leg kick but Silva just manages to avoid it.

Hammond closes the distance and pushes Silva back into the cage.

Hammond breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Hammond quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Hammond blocks a head kick by Silva.

Hammond drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hammond stands up from Silva's guard - Hammond perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hammond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Silva wants to stand but Hammond is controlling the position.

Hammond stands and steps away. Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hammond thumps Silva with a low kick.

Hammond throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Hammond finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Hammond is having none of it.
Hammond is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hammond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hammond won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.
Hammond is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Silva wants to stand up but Hammond is controlling him.
Hammond postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hammond stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.

Hammond prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hammond.

Hammond closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Silva is looking to get back to is feet but Hammond passes into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hammond remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hammond decides to stand back up. Hammond steps back and let's Silva get back to his feet.

Hammond rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Hammond manages to break the clinch.
Silva moves out of range of the body kick.
Silva throws a head kick but Hammond moves out of range.
Silva has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hammond.
Hammond lands a nice hook to Silva's body. Silva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hammond manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Silva on his heels. He'll look to pass Silva's guard now, I'm sure.
Hammond is standing up over Silva. Silva looks to escape but Hammond dives into side control.

Silva is looking to get back to his feet here but Hammond is keeping cool and he's managed to take Silva's back.
Hammond just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Silva wants to get back to his feet. He's half way up but Hammond drags him back down with a jolt, managing to get his forearm deep under Silva 's chin! Silva is in real trouble! His face is turning bright red and he's forced to tap! This one is all over!
