Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Valdez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Valdez stuffs the takedown attempt from Martin. Martin gets slowly back to his feet.

Valdez tries to keep at a distance but Martin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Martin prevents a body shot from Valdez.
Valdez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Martin.

Martin breaks from the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Martin enables Valdez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Martin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Valdez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Valdez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Valdez tries to free his leg and advance position but Martin is retaining full guard.
