The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shojiro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roth pinned against the cage. Roth gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A little feinted left hand from Roth on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Roth takes the fight into the clinch.

Roth breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shojiro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Roth parries the strikes from Shojiro easily there. Shojiro is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Roth to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shojiro has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Shojiro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shojiro trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Roth is looking to improve his position but Shojiro isn't that keen on the idea.
Shojiro landing strikes from the mount and Roth is in trouble!

It looks like Elbert Roth has been cut.
Shojiro moves to back control.

Shojiro is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Roth with him. Roth is trying to defend but Shojiro has an arm under the chin now! Roth grimaces and is forced to tap out!
