PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zachariah Wiggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlee Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zachariah Wiggins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charlee Chase!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wiggins closes the distance and clinches.
Chase can't get the takedown.
Chase tries for a takedown but Wiggins manages to get underhooks.

Chase breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chase goes for a double leg but Wiggins avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wiggins continues to drive forward.
Zachariah Wiggins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlee Chase.

Wiggins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Wiggins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Chase is not content to let Wiggins control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chase can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wiggins is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chase doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wiggins.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chase is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wiggins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wiggins's back!

Chase goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Wiggins escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Wiggins slips a nice elbow through Chase's hands, connecting with Chase's forehead.
Wiggins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wiggins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wiggins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Chase takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Chase really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wiggins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Chase shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chase showed some decent athleticism there.
Wiggins throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Chase manages to pass to side control.

Chase goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wiggins has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Chase but great work by Wiggins.

Wiggins is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chase knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wiggins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chase can do to turn this around?

Wiggins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chase tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wiggins is in Chase's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chase pushes a forearm under Wiggins's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Wiggins is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Charlee Chase!
A less than humble Charlee Chase misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
