Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darius Ellis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dominick Halo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Darius Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ellis enables Halo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ellis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Halo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ellis keeping full guard, as Halo tries to pass.
Ellis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ellis wants to stand up but Halo is controlling him.
Halo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Halo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Halo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ellis has momentary wrist control but Halo slips an elbow through the middle.

Halo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ellis's head.

Ellis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Halo stays in close to Ellis's body and controls the position.
Ellis wants to sweep here but Halo controlling him for the moment.
Halo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ellis wants to stand and escape but Halo is having none of it.
Halo lands a couple of digs.
Ellis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Halo is one step ahead there.
Halo wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Halo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dominick Halo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ellis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Halo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Halo tries to get out of the position.
Halo is looking for a sweep.
Ellis wants to take a breather but Halo manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Ellis.

Halo looking for a sweep. Not yet Halo, not yet.
Ellis stops Halo from standing up.
Ellis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Halo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Halo throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Halo wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Halo is working hard here to advance position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Halo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ellis trying to move into half guard but instead Halo has managed to sweep!

Halo lands a couple of digs.

Ellis has his foot on Halo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Halo works his way back into a safe position though.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Halo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Halo connects with a couple of short punches.
Ellis has momentary wrist control but Halo slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominick Halo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Halo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ellis.
Halo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ellis can do to turn this around?
Ellis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Ellis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Halo was covering up waiting for the punch and Ellis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Halo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dominick Halo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Halo connects with a nice short shot to Ellis's temple.
Ellis is trying to maintain the position but Halo is very close to passing his half guard.

Halo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Halo with a couple of short strikes.
Halo working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Halo in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Halo landing strikes from the mount and Ellis is in trouble!


Ellis is rocked!
Ellis takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Halo's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dominick Halo!
