PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Love-Hate Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shephard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to You All Everybody. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Love-Hate Powell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell slips under a jab from Shephard.
Love-Hate Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell works Shephard's body with a nice hook.
A thudding body kick lands there by Powell!
Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Shephard is just out of range.
Shephard moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Love-Hate Powell has been cut.
Shephard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Powell tries to avoid it but Shephard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Powell to the ground. Powell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shephard checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A little feinted left hand from Shephard on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Powell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shephard sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shephard fails with a takedown attempt.
And Powell tries to counter it with a takedown but Shephard pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Powell lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Powell swings for the body but Shephard moves out of range.
Powell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shephard.

Powell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Powell jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Powell lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shephard has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shephard and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Shephard was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Shephard paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Powell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Powell lands a head shot.
Shephard shoots for a double leg takedown but Powell sprawls well. He's pushed Shephard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Shephard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Powell is looking to slow Shephard down with leg kicks.
Shephard throws the left hand but Powell avoids the punch easily.

and Powell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Powell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Shephard is pushing Powell up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

and Shephard counters with a crisp right hand that drops Powell! Shephard lets Powell back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

and Shephard counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!
