Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frederic Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Gero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathan Gero looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frederic Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Gero!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alexander manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gero on his heels. He'll look to pass Gero's guard now, I'm sure.

Gero wriggles free and stands up.
Gero looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Alexander really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Alexander shoots in and bounces Gero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gero controls Alexander momentarily but Alexander frees himself.
Gero looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Alexander content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Alexander ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alexander no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Alexander wants to sweep here but Gero controlling him for the moment.
Alexander has his hands on Gero's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alexander has his hands on Gero's head, controlling the position.
Alexander is trying to keep Gero in close.
Alexander is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gero is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Alexander clinches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alexander has Gero pressed against the cage.
Gero prevents the takedown attempt.

Alexander decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gero, up you get!

Alexander throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gero tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Alexander is in Gero's guard.

Frederic Alexander overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Alexander is in close to Gero's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Alexander drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alexander jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Alexander decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Alexander shoots in but Gero avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Alexander shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gero sprawls well. Gero wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alexander gets slowly back to his feet.

Alexander closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gero circles away.

Gero wants to control but Alexander is keeping busy.

Alexander closes the distance and clinches up with Gero, looking for a takedown. Alexander pushes Gero against the cage but Gero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Gero drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alexander manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gero has Alexander in his guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Alexander gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Alexander misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Alexander fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gero sprawls well initially but Alexander persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gero tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Alexander manages to move to mount!
Alexander postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gero looks a forlorn figure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Alexander is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gero can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gero tries to hold on but Alexander postures up.

Alexander is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gero has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Alexander can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gero is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gero defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Alexander.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alexander, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
