PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masa Hattori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Masa Hattori!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux throws a jab but it's blocked by Hattori.

Hattori gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hattori tries to work over Dux's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hattori pushes Dux back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Hattori lands a left hand that snaps the head of Dux backwards.
A left hand lands to the body for Hattori.
Dux tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hattori smiles and moves away.
Dux shoots in looking for a takedown but Hattori manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dux's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hattori is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Dux with a body shot.
We've been hearing reports that Dux has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Frank Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dux tries for a takedown but Hattori sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hattori tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dux manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hattori stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hattori wants it to stay on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dux moves into the clinch.
Dux tries to pull guard but Hattori forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hattori makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hattori tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Dux fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hattori misses with a punch on the inside.
A short left from Hattori.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head punch on the inside from Hattori fails to land.
Hattori lands a nice uppercut.
Hattori stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Hattori tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dux's elbow.
Dux tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hattori smiles and moves away.
Hattori tries to close the distance and clinch but Dux swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dux shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hattori as he avoids it easily.
Dux misses with a lunging right hand
and Hattori counters with a stiff right hand.
Dux takes one to the side of the head.
Hattori keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dux.
Hattori tries to counter with a clinch but Dux shakes him off and moves away.

Hattori moves into the clinch successfully.
Dux doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Dux drags the fight down to the ground.

Dux has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hattori can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hattori has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dux is proving hard to escape from.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dux looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Hattori decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Dux tries to score with a low kick but Hattori moves his leg out of the way.
Hattori tries to counter with a clinch but Dux shakes him off and moves away.
Dux shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hattori steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dux.
Dux ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hattori moves away.
Hattori doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Dux waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hattori.
Hattori wants to counter with a clinch but Dux pushes him away.
Dux throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Dux clinches with his opponent.
Dux tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hattori lands a left hand.
A right hand to the body from Hattori.
Dux is breathing heavily.
Hattori misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dux's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hattori misses with a hook from the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A short left from Hattori.
Hattori lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dux backwards.
Dux tries to pull guard but Hattori holds him up against the cage and eventually Dux drops back down to his feet.
Hattori pushes Dux back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


Dux is rocked!
Hattori working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Oh Dux is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hattori's coach down at Harambe Remembrance Hall was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hattori's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Hattori swings away with an uppercut that misses.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hattori.
Hattori throws a head punch that misses.
Hattori is working Dux over against the cage.
Hattori tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Dux blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hattori lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Hattori stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Dux blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hattori swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hattori digs a right hand into Dux's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dux's gas tank.
Hattori throws a head punch that misses.
Hattori scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hattori misses with a punch on the inside.
Hattori pushes Dux against the cage. Hattori is working some dirty boxing. Hattori pushes off with a quick right hook! Dux goes down! Dux tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Hattori moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Masa Hattori!
Masa Hattori very nearly forgot to thank Hellraiser FightGear amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
