Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marlon Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinny Morin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marlon Gibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vinny Morin!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gibbs throws a leg kick
and Morin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Morin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Gibbs lands the left hand.
Morin's coach down at Island Top Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Morin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Gibbs takes the fight into the clinch.

Gibbs manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Morin stops Gibbs from standing up.
Morin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Morin tries to stand but Gibbs is controlling from the bottom.
Gibbs definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

As Gibbs backs off Morin throws a huge counter combo but Gibbs manages to avoid it all.

Morin lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Morin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nice uppercut lands for Gibbs. That snapped Morin's head back.
Gibbs moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Gibbs shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Morin throws a counter combo.
Gibbs is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gibbs is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Gibbs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Morin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Morin blocks a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marlon Gibbs dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gibbs tried to score with a low kick but Morin checks it.
It seemed like Morin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Gibbs throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Morin on the side of the head.

A nice side step and Morin releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Gibbs throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Morin to counter with a crisp jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gibbs. Morin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gibbs gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Gibbs tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Morin is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Gibbs buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Gibbs!! Gibbs is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Morin throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vinny Morin!
