Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Silverman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Foe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fred Silverman!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silverman is fending him off so far but Foe persists. Nope, Silverman circles away and we're back to standing.
Foe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silverman as he jumps to the side.
Silverman looks to land a combination but Foe avoids it well.
No joy there for Silverman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Silverman moves out of range as Foe throws a body kick.
Silverman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Foe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silverman was well out of range. Poor timing from Foe.
Foe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silverman as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Foe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Foe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silverman is fending him off so far but Foe persists. Nope, Silverman circles away and we're back to standing.
Silverman stuffs the takedown.

Silverman closes the distance and clinches.
Silverman prevents the takedown attempt.

Silverman breaks the clinch.

Silverman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Foe to the mat! Foe manages to get full guard.

Foe looking for a guillotine here but Silverman defends easily.
Silverman tries to free his leg and advance position but Foe is retaining full guard.

Silverman forces his way into half guard.

Foe actively working from the bottom here.
Foe is breathing heavily.
Silverman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Silverman thows a huge punch but Foe dodges it nicely.
Silverman passes to side control.
Foe tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silverman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Silverman throws an elbow but Foe slips to the side and avoids it well.
Foe managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Silverman.
Silverman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
I looks like Silverman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Silverman in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Foe tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Foe defending against the ground and pound.
Silverman tries to advance to mount but Foe denies him.
Silverman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Foe is not content to let Silverman control the position.
Silverman in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Foe is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Silverman off and has taken his back!
Silverman manages to reverse the position and now he's in Foe's guard. Nice work there by Silverman.
Silverman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Silverman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Foe with a lazy takedown attempt

and Silverman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Foe looking for submissions off his back.
Silverman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silverman moves nicely into side control.
The strikes coming from Silverman are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Foe tries to buck Silverman off but Silverman is having none of it.
Silverman controls the position.
Foe is not content to let Silverman control the position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fred Silverman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Foe swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Silverman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Foe!

Foe is looking to improve his position but Silverman isn't that keen on the idea.

Poor strikes thrown by Silverman there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Foe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silverman ducks under a wild hook from Foe.

Silverman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Foe smiles and moves away.

Silverman quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Silverman but it's paid off an Foe is forced to tap! Nice work by Silverman.
