Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perry shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sampson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sampson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Perry dives into side control.

Sampson parries the strikes from Perry easily there. Perry is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sampson to escape.
Sampson wants to get back to his feet.
Sampson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Perry wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Sampson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Perry decides to stand back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perry lands a head kick!
Sampson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sampson leaves Perry with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Perry misses with a wild body shot.

Sampson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Perry tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sampson is in Perry's guard.

Perry manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Perry is trying to stall.
Sampson has Perry pressed against the cage, preventing Perry from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Perry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sampson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Perry.
Perry tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sampson swivels and escapes.
Sampson keeps the fight on the outside.

Sampson closes the distance and clinches.
Perry is trying to stall.

Sampson manages to pull guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sampson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Perry presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Sampson tries to throw a body punch but Perry avoids it by throwing Sampson back against the cage.

Sampson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Perry fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sampson to the ground. Perry is now in Sampson's guard.
Sampson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Perry is trying to control the position but Sampson postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sampson stops Perry from standing up.

Sampson gets to his feet - Perry follows without any prompting.

Sampson shoots in and bounces Perry off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

A close round but John Sampson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Perry moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Perry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Perry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sampson tries to kick Perry off but Perry keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Perry drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sampson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

John Sampson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Perry dives in for a single leg takedown but Sampson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sampson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Perry has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sampson is working away from the top position though.

Perry had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sampson defends it easily.

John Sampson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sampson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
