PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arek Szleszynski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Chen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Szleszynski comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Voices. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Chen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Szleszynski tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chen swivels and escapes.
Szleszynski clinches but Chen breaks the clinch

and Chen counters by moving into the clinch.
Szleszynski unloads a knee to the mid-section. Chen lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Chen stops a takedown attempt from Szleszynski.
Chen goes for a takedown in the clinch but Szleszynski prevents it.

Chen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Szleszynski is trying to keep an underhook but Chen manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Szleszynski is trying to stand.
Chen is taking a breather. Szleszynski says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Chen seems to be looking for submissions.
Chen is looking to advance position but Szleszynski won't allow it.

Szleszynski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chen is controlling him.
Szleszynski wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Chen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Chen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Szleszynski, who protects the arm well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
An inside leg kick lands from Szleszynski.

Szleszynski moves into range and clinches up with Chen.

Szleszynski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Chen counters with a shoot takedown. Szleszynski fights it but they end up in guard.

Andrew Chen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Chen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
You get the feeling that Szleszynski really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Chen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Szleszynski is looking to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Szleszynski swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Chen with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Szleszynski wants to control but Chen is having none of it.
Chen content just to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Andrew Chen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Chen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
