PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duncan Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Altintop Palonesess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Ben Hemmingworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Potter gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Palonesess controlling the position for now.
Palonesess makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Palonesess.

Palonesess is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Potter defends well.
Potter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Palonesess has his foot on Potter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Potter works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Palonesess is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Potter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Potter tries to stand but Palonesess is controlling from the bottom.
Potter is working Palonesess over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Potter distracts Palonesess with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Potter stands and steps away. Palonesess gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Palonesess goes for a double leg but Potter avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Potter continues to drive forward.
Palonesess fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Potter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Potter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Palonesess is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Palonesess has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Potter has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Potter is pressed up against the cage. Palonesess has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Potter down to the mat. Potter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Potter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Potter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Potter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Palonesess, who protects the arm well.
Duncan Potter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Palonesess reaches up around Potter's neck trying to control. But Potter takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Palonesess! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Palonesess is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Potter celebrates the victory with the fans!
