PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lawrence Wun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Shieff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wun's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Wonderboy. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lawrence Wun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Shieff!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wun uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shieff.
Wun fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shieff has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Shieff misses the shot to the body.
Shieff throws a leg kick but Wun sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Shieff throws a combination that misses
and Wun counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Shieff throws a body shot but no joy.
No joy there for Wun, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Shieff connects with a body shot that sends Wun's belly button to the back.
Wun throws a body shot but no joy.
Wun jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Shieff swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shieff throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wun stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Shieff is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shieff lands with a hook. Wun tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Shieff misses with a straight left.
Shieff fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wun manages to avoid it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shieff throws an off balance right hand
and Wun counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Michael Shieff has been cut.
Wun throws a pinpoint strike between Shieff's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Shieff crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Wun scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lawrence Wun!
After the fight, Lawrence Wun was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
