PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucien Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bu Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bu Wang told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Wang postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Daniels to stand up.

Wang has Daniels up against the cage in a clinch.
Wang avoiding damage.

Wang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wang misses with a head kick.
Daniels avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wang clinches up against the cage.

Wang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wang misses with the combination.
Daniels could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wang moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Daniels enables Wang to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Daniels manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Wang gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Wang fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Daniels sprawls well initially but Wang persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Wang stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Daniels to get to his feet.

Daniels tries to keep at a distance but Wang has taken the fight into the clinch.
Daniels tries to stall but Wang uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Daniels tries to pull guard but Wang forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wang slips a jab and a cross from Daniels.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wang dives in and scores a takedown into Daniels's guard.
Daniels might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wang stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Wang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wang stands up and beckons Daniels to his feet.
Daniels is breathing heavily.
Nice uppercut lands for Wang. That snapped Daniels's head back.

It looks like Lucien Daniels has been cut.
Daniels throws an off balance right hand

and Wang counters with a crisp one two that drops Daniels! Wang thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Daniels to his feet! Daniels is in big trouble!

Daniels is rocked!

Wang dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Daniels has had enough and taps out.
