PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Boket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Bosman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boket is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Bill Boket has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bill Boket!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johan Bosman!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bosman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Boket to the ground. Bosman is now in Boket's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boket is breathing heavily.

Bosman stands and steps away. Boket gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bosman or perhaps it was just good defense by Boket, which made it look bad.
Bosman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Boket swivels and escapes.
Boket fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Bosman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Boket's guard.

Boket uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bosman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Boket sprawls well. Boket wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bosman gets slowly back to his feet.
Bill Boket has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johan Bosman.
Bosman dives in for a single leg takedown but Boket sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
No joy there for Bosman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Bosman counters with a series of strikes. Boket will be more careful next time no doubt.
Bosman closes the distance and clinches up with Boket, looking for a takedown. Bosman pushes Boket against the cage but Boket circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Boket moves in looking to clinch but Bosman pushes him off.
Bosman unleashes a big counter combination but Boket bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Bosman shoots in for a takedown but Boket shows good takedown defense.
Boket scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Bosman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Boket attempts a counter takedown but Bosman avoids it well and moves away.
Bosman takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Boket misses with a few strikes there.
Bill Boket is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nice takedown defense from Boket. No joy for Bosman on that attempt.

Bosman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boket sprawls well initially but Bosman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, if Bosman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Boket throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Bosman instigates a clinch.
Bosman stalling the fight.

Bosman jumps guard.
Boket trying to control the position from guard on top but Bosman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bosman holds on and takes a little breather.

Bosman throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Bosman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boket is one step ahead there.
Bosman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boket. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boket trying to control but Bosman is working from the bottom.
Bosman has Boket pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boket really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Boket tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bosman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bosman fails with a takedown attempt.

Bosman drives through with a takedown into guard.

Boket has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bosman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bosman manages to break the clinch.
Boket misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bosman shoots in but no luck this time.
A punch combination from Boket misses.
Boket looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bosman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Boket defends well and Bosman ends up having to push Boket into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bosman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Boket after a bit of a struggle.

Boket attempts a counter takedown but Bosman avoids it well and moves away.

Bosman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boket tries to avoid it but Bosman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boket to the ground. Boket escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
