Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bert Blanchard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anderson Gold!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gold manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Blanchard on his heels. He'll look to pass Blanchard's guard now, I'm sure.
Blanchard tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Blanchard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gold on the ground.
Blanchard controls Gold momentarily but Gold frees himself.
Gold working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gold postures up in Blanchard's guard and throws a big left but Blanchard blocks it.

Blanchard has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gold off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold shoots in and drives through. Blanchard sprawls well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gold is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Blanchard is controlling him.
Blanchard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Gold changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blanchard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Blanchard is pushing Gold's head away, looking to escape. Gold manages to hold on to the position though.

Gold swings around for an armbar but Blanchard sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gold's guard.
Gold is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gold seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Gold is trying to keep Blanchard in close.
Blanchard would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Blanchard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gold pinned against the cage. Gold gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gold closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Gold is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Blanchard has managed to free his arm - good work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Blanchard is on top in guard.

Gold wants to get back to his feet but Blanchard is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gold wants to stand and escape but Blanchard is having none of it.

Gold has control of Blanchard's left arm, preventing Blanchard from doing any damage.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gold is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gold closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blanchard to the mat! Blanchard manages to get full guard.

A close second round but Anderson Gold will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Blanchard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Gold fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Blanchard to the ground. Gold is now in Blanchard's guard.

Gold throws an elbow that misses. Blanchard uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gold's guard. Nice move by Blanchard!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Blanchard.
Blanchard goes for a double leg but Gold avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gold continues to drive forward.

Gold decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blanchard tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Gold manages to move to mount!

You get the feeling that Blanchard really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Gold lands a heavy elbow.
Blanchard wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gold.

Gold looking to secure an arm triangle but Blanchard defends it well.
Gold is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Blanchard can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gold misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Gold maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Blanchard could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gold has cracked it and Blanchard is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gold!
