PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bray Hack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otavio Ikuhisa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bray Hack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Otavio Ikuhisa!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hack is looking to clinch but Ikuhisa is avoiding it.

Ikuhisa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hack wriggles free and stands up.

Ikuhisa drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hack has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ikuhisa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ikuhisa closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hack's guard.
Ikuhisa's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hack trying to control the position.
Hack doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Ikuhisa is pushing down on Hack's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hack is fighting to maintain full guard but Ikuhisa has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ikuhisa performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hack moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ikuhisa passes Hack's left leg - he's now in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ikuhisa drops an elbow to the side of Hack's head.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ikuhisa in particular looking to stall.
Hack is trying to get back to full guard.
Hack on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ikuhisa lands with a punch from half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hack fails with a takedown attempt.

Ikuhisa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hack manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ikuhisa looking to pass the guard.
Hack trying to keep a closed guard but Ikuhisa is proving a slippery customer.
Ikuhisa is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ikuhisa is stalling in the full guard.
Ikuhisa wants to get up but he can't break Hack's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otavio Ikuhisa dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ikuhisa shoots in and gets a takedown into Hack's guard.
Ikuhisa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ikuhisa working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hack's head.
Hack can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ikuhisa controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ikuhisa passes into half guard.
Ikuhisa tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hack knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ikuhisa connects with a nice short shot to Hack's temple.
Hack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ikuhisa on the ground.

Ikuhisa decides to stand up.

Ikuhisa looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hack!
Hack tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Ikuhisa biding his time, looking for the opening.

Hack is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ikuhisa is looking for the choke from the back position but Hack is controlling his hands well.
Ikuhisa keeps control of the position easily here as Hack tries to buck him off.

Ikuhisa is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hack knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hack for a finish.

Ikuhisa has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hack's body.
Ikuhisa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Otavio Ikuhisa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hack is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Ikuhisa controlling the positon.
Let's hope that Ikuhisa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ikuhisa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otavio Ikuhisa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ikuhisa leaves Hack with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hack is looking to clinch.

Ikuhisa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hack is looking to improve his position.
Ikuhisa is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ikuhisa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hack is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ikuhisa jumps into side control!

Ikuhisa is trying to get an arm triangle but Hack is defending well.
Ikuhisa controls the position.
Hack really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ikuhisa in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Ikuhisa lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hack down.
Ikuhisa tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Hack seems a little lost for a moment, as Ikuhisa dominates the positioning.
Ikuhisa in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Ikuhisa wants to stand but Hack is controlling his arm.
Hack takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ikuhisa remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hack struggling a bit here.

Ikuhisa is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hack is trying to escape and Ikuhisa transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hack is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ikuhisa! Very nice indeed!
