Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Land Down Under. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cole Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson drops Jones with a left and a right! Oh, Jones is hurt - Jackson dives into side control looking to finish!


It looks like Robert Jones has been cut.
Jones regains half guard.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Jones blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jackson.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jones is trying to control but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cole Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jackson lands a right hand.
Jackson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jackson stalling in the clinch but Jones improves position.
Jones lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


It looks like Cole Jackson has been cut.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jackson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jackson's back instead.

Jones has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jackson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

A jab-cross combination lands for Jackson and sends Jones crashing to the mat! Jackson follows him down to the mat - Jones regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Jackson.

That has opened up Cole Jackson's cut even more.

Jones gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jackson regains guard.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jackson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jackson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by Jackson.

Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jackson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Jackson in his guard.

Robert Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
