PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Ditch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josias Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ribeiro has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitch Ditch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josias Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro misses with a hook
and Ditch counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ribeiro scores with a hook to the body. Ditch takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Ditch clinches up with Ribeiro and pushes him back against the cage.
Ribeiro wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ditch breaks from the clinch.
Ditch darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ditch lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Josias Ribeiro has been cut.
Ribeiro takes a swing at Ditch's ribcage but misses.
Ditch looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Ribeiro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ribeiro looks winded!
Ditch throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ribeiro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Ditch counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ribeiro throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ditch dives in and grabs Ribeiro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ribeiro pushes down on Ditch's head and hops out.

Ditch throws a quick counter head kick but Ribeiro was just out of range.

Ditch has closed the distance and engaged Ribeiro in a clinch.

Ditch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ribeiro is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ditch rather than just go for the knockout.

Ditch pushes Ribeiro up against the cage in a clinch.

Ditch drags the fight down to the ground.

Ditch has his foot on Ribeiro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ribeiro works his way back into a safe position though.

Ditch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ribeiro defends well.

Ditch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ribeiro can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ditch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ribeiro defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ribeiro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ditch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ribeiro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ribeiro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ribeiro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ditch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ribeiro has managed to get both his arms back between Ditch's legs - danger averted.

and Ditch makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ditch lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ditch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ribeiro's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ditch thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ditch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ribeiro can do to turn this around?

Ditch has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ribeiro doesn't defend quickly enough and Ditch has managed to lock this one up! Can Ribeiro escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ditch on a fantastic submission victory.
