Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roderick Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bogdan Sokolov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roderick Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bogdan Sokolov!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sokolov moves to clinch but Wells breaks away

and Wells counters with a shoot takedown. Sokolov fights it but they end up in guard.
Sokolov looking for a sweep. Not yet Sokolov, not yet.
Wells sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Wells really is a fat lump.

Wells thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sokolov wants to improve his position but instead Wells has moved into half guard.
Sokolov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wells. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sokolov is trying to stand up here but Wells is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wells with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Wells's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Wells stops Sokolov from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sokolov shoots in and bounces Wells off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sokolov trying to control but Wells is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sokolov looking to sit in guard and control but Wells gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wells trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sokolov working a defensive guard but Wells manages to pass into side control anyway.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Wells thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wells trying to control the action but Sokolov is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wells misses with the ground and pound.
Sokolov tries to bench press Wells off him but Wells keeps the position.

Wells is trying to get an arm triangle but Sokolov is defending well.
Wells throws a strike aimed at the side of Sokolov's head but Sokolov avoids it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wells throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Sokolov struggling a bit here.

Wells looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wells wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sokolov, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roderick Wells dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Wells has closed the distance and engaged Sokolov in a clinch.

Wells breaks from the clinch.
Sokolov fails in his attempt to clinch.
It looked like Wells was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Sokolov pushes Wells up against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Sokolov's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Wells - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sokolov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sokolov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wells is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sokolov can do to turn this around?
A jab from Sokolov finds it's way through Wells's defenses.


It looks like Roderick Wells has been cut.
Sokolov throws a series of punches but Wells avoids them all with ease.
Sokolov scores with a jab to the head.
Bogdan Sokolov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wells misses with a wild body shot.
We've been informed that Sokolov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wells with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sokolov to score with a decent uppercut.
Sokolov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wells.
Sokolov steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Wells is out on his feet! Sokolov sets himself and nearly takes Wells's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bogdan Sokolov!
