Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Despite the aggression on Ray's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Ray tries to clinch

and Patterson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ray is looking to stand back up but Patterson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ray.

Patterson drops an elbow to the side of Ray's head.
Patterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ray is trying to stand.

Patterson lands with a punch from half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Patterson is taking a breather. Ray says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Patterson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ray for as long as he can get away with.
Patterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Patterson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Patterson.

Patterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dan Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Patterson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Ray is sitting in close to Patterson's body. Patterson has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ray is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ray is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Patterson.
