PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between dee yenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bada Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boom has chosen Metallica - All Nightmare Long as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
yenkins connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
yenkins throws out a loose jab but Boom uses good head movement to avoid it.
yenkins takes a swing at Boom's ribcage but misses.
Boom fails with the takedown.

yenkins throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A punch combination from yenkins misses.

Boom shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Boom can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as yenkins is looking to escape.

Boom goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now yenkins is on top in guard.

Boom is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Boom shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts yenkins as he jumps to the side.
dee yenkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bada Boom.
Boom shoots in but no luck this time.
Boom takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
yenkins misses with a body kick.

yenkins fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
yenkins scores with a jab. Boom acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
yenkins stalks Boom and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Boom's face. Boom staggers backwards, shaken.
yenkins tries to clinch up.
Boom fails to land the takedown.
yenkins looks to land a combination but Boom avoids it well.
yenkins throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
yenkins looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

yenkins throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
yenkins throws a series of punches but Boom moves out of range.
Boom closes this distance looking for a takedown but yenkins circles away.
yenkins misses with a few strikes there.
Boom shoots in looking for a takedown. yenkins tries to sprawl out of it but Boom keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. yenkins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Boom takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

yenkins throws a hook but Boom blocks it.
Boom looks for a takedown but yenkins sprawls well.
Boom fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

yenkins takes the fight into the clinch.
Boom goes for a takedown attempt but yenkins pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Boom closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that dee yenkins will probably get the nod.

Boom drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Boom advances to half guard.
Boom is taking a breather. yenkins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
yenkins is refusing to be controlled, as Boom sits in half guard.
Boom works his way into full mount!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Boom seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. yenkins is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
