PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramses Kolmas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen Summer Sixteen By: Drake as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ramses Kolmas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, William King!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King takes one to the side of the head.
A combination from King does no damage.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kolmas ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kolmas appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kolmas lands a really nice looking cross but King seems unphased.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kolmas as he avoids it easily.

and King counters with a takedown into side control.

King tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Check out the look on King's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kolmas is looking to regain half guard here but King keeps moving and retains side control.

Kolmas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard.

King avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

King sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kolmas's guard.

King fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Kolmas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
King is nestled in close to Kolmas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
King lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King trying to control the action but Kolmas is working from the bottom.
Kolmas is trying to control but can't.
King throws a strike but Kolmas avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
King passes Kolmas's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. King connects with a nice short shot to Kolmas's temple.

William King dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kolmas throws a solid leg kick but King takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kolmas.
William King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King moves in looking to clinch but Kolmas pushes him off.
Kolmas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but King was well out of range. Poor timing from Kolmas.
King lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Kolmas looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
King cracks the inside of Kolmas's front leg.
King takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kolmas tries to clinch but King moves out of range.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kolmas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kolmas's waist but Kolmas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side.
Kolmas is looking to counter the offense by King and move into the clinch.
King lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by King.
King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kolmas as he avoids it easily.
Kolmas tries to counter by moving into the clinch but King manages to circle out of the way.
Kolmas thuds his shin into the meat of King's side.

Kolmas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.

Ramses Kolmas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William King.
King stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kolmas.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


King shoots in and drives through. Kolmas sprawls well.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! King crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kolmas - the referee stops the clock and King gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kolmas. King manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kolmas counters with a nice double leg into side control. King won't be happy with that.

Kolmas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by King, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kolmas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but King is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kolmas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kolmas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, King rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kolmas's guard! Nice work there by King!
Kolmas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Kolmas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and King defends well.

King takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Kolmas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but King can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kolmas lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Kolmas fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches King on the side of the head.
Kolmas lands with a straight right. King didn't see that one coming.
King tries to clinch but Kolmas is having none of it.
King cracks Kolmas with a right hand to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A decent looking cross lands there for King.
King tries to land a leg kick but Kolmas saw it coming and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ramses Kolmas showed his dominance in that final round.
I think King has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
