Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Paul Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Paul Gregory!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gregory moves into the clinch.
Evans creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Evans really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Evans fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Gregory blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Gregory manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gregory wants to stand but Evans is controlling the position.
Evans stays in close to Gregory's body and controls the position.
Evans stopping the sweep attempt from Gregory.
Gregory not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Evans throwing strikes but missing.
Evans trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Evans pulls Gregory in close to his closed guard and prevents Gregory from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gregory postures up in Evans's guard and throws a big left but Evans blocks it.
Gregory controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gregory pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Evans is keeping the position for now.
Evans is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Gregory wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Evans has managed to clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Evans.

Evans gets control of Gregory's arms and successfully pulls guard. Evans will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gregory trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gregory throws a big elbow that misses.
Gregory trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gregory won't allow Evans to sweep him here.
Gregory is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gregory has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Evans is proving hard to escape from.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Evans is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Evans looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gregory dives in and scores a takedown into Evans's guard.
Evans is trying to control the position but Gregory postures up.
Gregory pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Evans is keeping the position for now.
Evans keeping moving, preventing Gregory from controlling successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Evans is pulling down on Gregory's head to control his posture.

Evans avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gregory.

Gregory decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Gregory moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans pushes off an throws an elbow but Gregory leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Gregory blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Gregory breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Evans clinches up with Gregory and pushes him back against the cage.

Evans misses with some punches.
Gregory is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gregory manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Evans looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gregory unleashes a big counter combination but Evans bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Evans closes the distance looking to clinch

and Gregory counters with a nice right hand that sends Evans toppling to the canvas! Evans scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Gregory finish him?!


Evans is rocked!


It looks like Mickey Evans has been cut.

Gregory instigates a clinch.
Evans throws a punch but it's blocked by Gregory.

Gregory manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gregory wants to stand up but Evans is controlling him.
Evans looking to sit in guard and control but Gregory gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Evans has a closed guard, preventing Gregory from standing up.
Gregory trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Evans is trying to keep Gregory in close.
Gregory trying to control the position from guard on top but Evans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gregory wanted to stand there but Evans had control of the position.
Gregory stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Evans is adopting a defensive guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Evans shoots in but no luck this time.

Gregory shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gregory was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gregory swings around for an armbar but Evans sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gregory's guard.

Gregory pushes Evans off and scrambles back to his feet.

Gregory shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Paul Gregory showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Mickey Evans's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Evans throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gregory was covering up waiting for the punch and Evans finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gregory controls Evans momentarily but Evans frees himself.
Evans postures up in Gregory's guard and throws a big left but Gregory blocks it.

Gregory looking to hit a scissor sweep but Evans is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Evans moves into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Evans.

Gregory gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Evans regains guard.
Evans seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Evans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gregory is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Evans in particular looking to stall.

Evans prevents Gregory from improving his position.
Gregory takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gregory is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Evans's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Evans's back!
Gregory is trying to stick to Evans's back but Evans is turning into Gregory. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gregory's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Evans.

Gregory has control of Evans's left arm, preventing Evans from doing any damage.

Evans got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gregory has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Evans has managed to get both his arms back between Gregory's legs - danger averted.

Evans chips away with some ground and pound.

Gregory has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Evans can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Evans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jean Paul Gregory is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
