PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles LaFontier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blaze's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Monster by Skillet. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Blaze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles LaFontier!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blaze uses good head movement to avoid the hook from LaFontier.

A momentary lapse in concentration from LaFontier enables Blaze to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. LaFontier manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
LaFontier is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Blaze dives into side control.

Blaze has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

LaFontier tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blaze wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Blaze is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, LaFontier has escaped the position, nice work there.

Blaze drops back looking for a leg! LaFontier is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and LaFontier manages to kick Blaze off! Blaze jumps back into LaFontier's guard.
LaFontier bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blaze's guard.


LaFontier gets to his feet. Blaze looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Blaze drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

LaFontier sneaks out the side door and pushes Blaze away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
LaFontier stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Blaze will probably get the nod.
That's time! Blaze's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Blaze can't find room to land a body shot as LaFontier controls the action.
Blaze is looking for a takedown up against the cage. LaFontier gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Blaze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blaze tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
LaFontier lands with a left to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, LaFontier creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Blaze has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics LaFontier uses from the top position.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Blaze! LaFontier is hurt baaadly! Blaze is firing away with more strikes - LaFontier is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Blaze!
After the fight, Johnny Blaze was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
